I must be batty!

Well, this is new! Welcome to my attempt at a blog. As you will quickly realize, I am new to this. But in order to expand my opportunities in the stamping world & maybe someday be part of a Design Team for one of my favorite companies, it's necessary for me to get comfortable with being a blogger. So here it goes...

Today I've been working with the Prickley Pear (www.prickleypear.com) "Bat Lady" to try & finish a Halloween card I started last weekend. "Bat Lady" was one of the many treasures I found at StampScrapArtTour which was held last weekend in Norcross, GA. I enjoyed getting to know some new stamp companies, like Prickley Pear from WI, as well as getting reacquainted with some old friends like Heartfelt Creations (www.heartfeltcreations.us).

Here is my latest creation:

I started with a card base of black cardstock cut to 5 x 6 3/4. I added the purple patterned paper layers from the Recollections (Michael's) "Midnight Magic" 12 x 12 paper pad. (I put the bat ribbon around the purple patterened paper on the front before adhering. The ribbon is from JoAnn's.) I die cut a black cardstock rectangle from Spellbinders "Radiant Rectangles" & a white cardstock lacy rectangle from the same die set. I stamped "Bat Lady" in black VersaColor pigment ink & embossed with Ranger clear embossing powder on the lacy white rectangle. I distressed the white rectangle with Colorbox "Gray Whale" chalk ink & Close to My Heart black die ink. I stamped & embossed the sentiment (also from Prickley Pear) on white cardstock & distressed. Bat Lady & the sentiment were adhered flat to the black die cut rectangles. The black rectangle was pop-dotted on the front of the card, but glued flat on the inside of the card. I die cut black bats from Cheery Lynn's "Going Batty Border" & cut them apart. I added clear Zig "Wink of Stella" to the bats to give them shimmer (before cutting them apart). I glued them flat to the front & inside of the card.

I hope you like my creation. Stay tuned for more fun. Happy Stampin'!  Leigh aka Stampin Dawg
